Hello to all future pledgers and thank you in advance for visiting our page!
About the Project
Our team, Team 100% consists of 6 students studying Bachelors in Engineering (Honours) Mechanical Engineering in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus School of Engineering. As an assignment for one of our module, Business Skills for Engineers (BUS60403), we are asked to carry out a crowdfunding project of our choice. We chose to focus on helping the children of Global Street Mission (GSM).
The reason why we chose GSM in particular is due to the children who were brought into this shelter. Most of them came from a bad past, where their families are either abusive, or a drug addict. Some were even kicked out from their own homes. We would love to help these children by raising funds and spreading awareness of the GSM project and organization itself as GSM is an non-governmental organisation.
Our team made a site visit to the home of these GSM children and had a little chat with the caretaker of the house, Pastor Catherine Chew. She is a sweet and loving individual whom have worked for GSM for more than 20 years and have placed her passion of wantingness to help these 13 children from age 5 years old to 16 years old to obtain a better future ahead. Based on what she has told us, they are in need of funds to pay up for rental bills, electricity bills and also water bills. Although these kinds of payments are paid monthly, we do believe that with the funds that we can collect, this small effort could bring a large impact to these kids.
Hence, this is where you lovely future donaters play an important role. In our opinion, we do think that GSM itself is not widely known to locals and the resources to help grow these children are in need of some repairs and livening up. With the help of your kind and generous donations, we would like to fully give 100% of our fundings to GSM, in hope to enable them to further upgrade themselves for the many more children they would be sheltering in the future.
Objective
Our main objectives relates to the quote used by GSM themselves, "Relief, Rehabilitate, Restore.":
1. To raise funds of as much as RM700 and to be fully utilized for the better of the home.
2. To raise awareness of the existence of children living in an abusive, negative, and harmful environment.
3. To promote Global Street Mission (GSM) to locals and hopefully, around the world.
4. To fulfill the requirements needed for our crowdfunding project in our module Business Skills for Engineers (BUS60403).

Risks & Challenges
1. Financial Support
For the last 25 years, with the number of children, teenagers and young adults that the Global Street Mission has taken care of and the ones that are currently being taken care of, they are facing challenges when it comes to money. This entails the monthly rent, water, gas, electricity bills, as well as groceries to feed all of them. Most of the time it comes out of their own pockets to pay for these necessities.
2. Safety
With the help of a single caretaker of the house, it is assured that the home is a safe place for the children, teenagers and young adults. The home is located within 10 minutes of Lourdes Medical Centre and The Sentul Police Station. The children travel to a school located right behind the home itself via van accompanied by a chaperone of the school to ensure all the children get home safely.
